Demonstration of combining delay pedals and other effects, and using the DL4 loop function. I am using a Boss DD-3 Delay pedal for the basic delay sound, with a Boss RV-5 Reverb pedal to add some atmospherics. I then use the loop function on a Line 6 DL4 to layer guitar parts over one another. The clip comes form a song called 'Terribilis Est Locus Iste' by my band Vinyl Future.

We were psyched to try out the Line 6 JM4 Looper after seeing how similar it looked to the highly touted DL4 and FM4 boxes, some of Line 6's finest pieces of work. The JM4 is good at something, but it just doesn't seem like looping is its forte. It does do looping, but it seems like Line 6 was more focused on providing the Spider Jam presets, functionality and controls than they were with making an actual looper. Still, if you want to see Gearwire's favorite Irishman all frazzled up about a guitar pedal, this might be your only chance. Imagine having the ability to go on stage with 12 different pedalboards that each contain 12 pedals. That's a lot of effects, and 144 pedals would cost you something astronomical and take up quite a bit of space in your Astro van. Enter the Line 6 M13. So what if all the effects are modeled? As Line 6's Dave Lenat shows us, you can get some mean tones out of this unit as well as some functionality that would be impossible with a traditional pedalboard setup. This thing's a monster.

Volume pedals should not be complicated. When the heel is pressed in, your guitar should be quiet, and when the toe is pressed, your guitar should be loud. Line 6 throws in more options in case you don't like to keep things that simple. Bill Holland shows some of the functions on the volume pedal that aren't as simple as just pushing a pedal one way or another.
