Over at Semaphore Studio, Sanford Parker showed us his sleeves, his superior mutton chops and his key to recording metal saxophone -- the Coles 4038 ribbon microphone. We get a dose of the sound through Sanford's rig which sends the mic signal through a Universal Audio 610 and the Teletronix LA-2A courtesy of Bruce Lamont, metal saxophonist from Chicago's Yakuza.

French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot creates works by drawing on the rhythms of daily life to produce sound in unexpected ways. For his installation in The Curve, Boursier-Mougenot creates a walk-though aviary for a flock of zebra finches, furnished with electric guitars and other musical instruments. As the birds go about their routine activities, perching on or feeding from the various pieces of equipment, they create a captivating, live soundscape. 27 February 2010 - 23 May 2010 The Curve, Barbican, London

We first load into Photosounder a sound of HAL 9000's voice, which is turned into an image, and we first play it back into a sound at its original rate. Then the Time resolution knob is turned down a notch and the image-sound is played about 3 times slower, without any change in pitch. Then the Time resolution is turned down some more until the playback rate for the image-sound is 200 times slower than the original, and a strange and eerie soundscape emerges from the man's extremely slowed down voice.
