While beginning to work on their new record with producer Tony Berg, six-piece Los Angeles based group, Ozomatli, took time to record with Apogees brand new USB music interface, ONE. Within 2 hours time, Ozomatli wrote, arranged, and recorded an entire song using only a Mac, GarageBand, a single external mic and ONE. The guitar, conga, tambourine, and even the keyboard (micing the keyboards built in speaker) were all recorded using ONEs internal condenser microphone. The bass and Requinto guitar were recorded direct, using ONEs 1/4 Hi-Z instrument input. Taking advantage of ONEs 65 dB microphone preamp, the vocals were recorded via a standard dynamic mic into the XLR input. Shortly after this session the group hit the road, now each equipped with a ONE and a Mac laptop in order to continue pre-production for the new record.

Here's our first noodle with the incredible OTO Biscuit using the Studio Electronics SE-1X Red Eye as our source. The Biscuit (pronounced bis-kwee in French) is a stereo bit crushing effect with an analog multimode filter, true 8-bit pitch shifting, delay with midi sync, wave-shaping, and a filter sequencer. The performance of the DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control are reminiscent of the original red WH-1 Digitech Whammy. All the favorite whammy settings that guitar players covet are available again at the touch of a knob. Added is a new Dive Bomb effect, similar to that of a Floyd Rose whammy bar pushed all the way to the body of the guitar. Another new addition is a MIDI-in jack, allowing remote control of effects via MIDI devices. Both type and control are accomplished via MIDI program changes and CC messages respectively.
