Over at Semaphore Studio, Sanford Parker showed us his sleeves, his superior mutton chops and his key to recording metal saxophone -- the Coles 4038 ribbon microphone. We get a dose of the sound through Sanford's rig which sends the mic signal through a Universal Audio 610 and the Teletronix LA-2A courtesy of Bruce Lamont, metal saxophonist from Chicago's Yakuza.

Yet another new line for Vox, the Vox AGA70, was introduced at the recent NAMM show in Anaheim. This one's an acoustic amp -- the first for the company (unless you count the Vox AmPlug Acoustic, which we don't). This powerful little 70watt combo sports two separate channels, one with a solid-state pre, and one with a 12AU7-driven preamp, perfect for adding a little warmth to a microphone or secondary input. Vox went through the trouble of setting up a sound-proof audition room for all their new amps at the show, so we went through the trouble of demoing all the amps, including the Vox AGA70. Enjoy!

C-Thru Music has lent me this keyboard, called the AXiS, for a few months, and I am rearranging the keys for the Bohlen-Pierce Scale, a macrotuning based on a 3/1 frequency ratio, divided by 13 equal steps. This particular AXiS toured with the Lionel Richie Band on loan, went to me, and in two weeks I will be flying to Boston to give this AXiS to the Berklee College of Music, Synthesis Department - namely to Dr. Boulanger who will use it for his classes and for the new microtonal club.
