He worked for several years in theater as a production manager, in corporate television as a producer and later as a visual effects production manager for POP on films such as Independence Day, What Dreams May Come, and Star Trek: First Contact. He is the founder of Stokes Audio, Recording & Post located in Tarzana, CA. Recently, Cakewalk's Steve Thomas visited Stokes' studio with the SONAR V-Studio 700 music production system. This Fender Custom Shop 62 Stratocaster is one of our exclusive Total Tone series of guitars. The Total Tone Stratocaster is built to 62 specs with some unique PGS inspired features such as Abigail Ybarra hand-wound pickups, larger bridge block with increased mass, staggered tuning machines, and a quarter-sawn maple neck in the mid 60s oval C shape. This Fender Custom Shop Strat is a heavy relic meaning it has been lovingly beat up by the Custom Shop boys, then they did it again for a guitar that looks, plays, and feels like its been played for decades. The oval C shaped neck is fashioned after the standard neck shape adopted in 1962 and the quarter-sawn handpicked wood adds stability and resonance. The rosewood fingerboard has been fitted with jumbo frets and cut with a 9 ½ radius to increase bend-a-bility and tuning stability. Abigail Ybarra is reknowned for the pickups she wound for Fender Custom Shop. We had her hand-wind all the pickups for the Total Tone series and sign them as well for the best possible tone we could come up with.
