Description : Over the years we have been frequently asked about this topic so we decided to make a tutorial video. Side Chain Compression is an important production technique in many forms of electronic music but it is probably most used in house music and most notably by Daft Punk and other french disco house producers. Side Chain Compression essentially takes one sound and uses it to effect another. In house music it is usually the kick drum that effects another sound in the mix by lowering its volume each time the kick drum is used. This creates the 'pumping' sound that is a signature part of the french disco sound. Perhaps more commonly, radio DJs also use Side Chain Compression to lower the volume of the music while they are talking.
