Circuit bent toy keytar. A friend found this in a skip, broken with wires hanging out. I fixed it, made a few modifications and gave it a nice black paint job.

Korg padKONTROL converted into a monome
After spending a few hours messing with the settings I've finally gotten this monomulator program working... beats were made in Reason and now that my headache's subsiding I'm posting it up. gameboy-like goodness and tr-808 old school electro beats chopped up into tinsy bits.

Uzebox - Atmel based Game Console ( Chiptune Music Demo )
The Uzebox is a homebrew game console made out of resistors and only two chips: an ATmega644 and an AD725 RGB-to-NTSC converter. This video demonstrates the system kernel's four channels wavetable-based "synthesizer" and the MIDI interface that allows composition of music straight on the console.

Stylophone as MIDI controller
Just for fun... not the most useful synth mod ever made :) The technicals... Soldered wires to Stylophone PCB to use its keypad / resistor ladder.. put 5V across it and read voltage at stylus by analog input pin on arduino clone (miduino). Found out input value for each note and sent out MIDI note...
