In the garden of my house there's a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it. To tune the tree I picked a fundamental note and tuned the twigs by trimming them with a pencil sharpener. I used two Røde NT6 and a NTG-2 as microphones, combined with a customized stethoscope. I recorded the tracks live on a Pro Tools LE system. I didn't use any synthesizer or sampler to create or modify the sounds. All the sounds come from playing the tree, by bowing the twigs, shaking the leaves, playing rhythms on the cortex and so on. C-Thru Music has lent me this keyboard, called the AXiS, for a few months, and I am rearranging the keys for the Bohlen-Pierce Scale, a macrotuning based on a 3/1 frequency ratio, divided by 13 equal steps. This particular AXiS toured with the Lionel Richie Band on loan, went to me, and in two weeks I will be flying to Boston to give this AXiS to the Berklee College of Music, Synthesis Department - namely to Dr. Boulanger who will use it for his classes and for the new microtonal club.

Around 2002 I bought an Eventide Harmonizer for $5000. I bought it for its pitch shifting abilities and in this recording you hear arpeggiated notes using a combination of delay and pitch shifters. The Orville has 8 pitch shifters in it =D I sold the Harmonizer and bought a DSLR camera and lenses. This was the only recording of me that I know about using this effect. Maybe one day I'll buy another.
