While beginning to work on their new record with producer Tony Berg, six-piece Los Angeles based group, Ozomatli, took time to record with Apogees brand new USB music interface, ONE. Within 2 hours time, Ozomatli wrote, arranged, and recorded an entire song using only a Mac, GarageBand, a single external mic and ONE. The guitar, conga, tambourine, and even the keyboard (micing the keyboards built in speaker) were all recorded using ONEs internal condenser microphone. The bass and Requinto guitar were recorded direct, using ONEs 1/4 Hi-Z instrument input. Taking advantage of ONEs 65 dB microphone preamp, the vocals were recorded via a standard dynamic mic into the XLR input. Shortly after this session the group hit the road, now each equipped with a ONE and a Mac laptop in order to continue pre-production for the new record.

What you are hearing in this video is every channel of the H&K Triamp MKII played through a Marshall 1960AV (Vintage 30 loaded) and a Mesa 2x12 (Vintage 30 loaded) by either a Gibson SG Standard or a Gibson Les Paul Standard. All of this monsterous tone from hell is being picked up by a room mic (AKG Perception 100 condensor mic) and tracked into Sony Acid Pro.

Audio palette is an innovative instrument that allows you to remix looped tracks in a new way. In audio palette each sound is represented on the screen as a circle. The closer your touch is to the center of the circle, the louder the sound. Your performance is automatically recorded and looped back with perfect timing accuracy allowing you to create a new loop built from your remix. You can record up to four of these looped recordings and switch instantly between them to create yet another layer of performance. The software also allows you to edit the positions and sizes of the circles on screen, so you can develop your own style of play. This initial release has four palettes and includes custom samples provided by legendary rock music producer and ambient music pioneer Brian Eno.

The performance of the DigiTech Whammy Pedal with MIDI Control are reminiscent of the original red WH-1 Digitech Whammy. All the favorite whammy settings that guitar players covet are available again at the touch of a knob. Added is a new Dive Bomb effect, similar to that of a Floyd Rose whammy bar pushed all the way to the body of the guitar. Another new addition is a MIDI-in jack, allowing remote control of effects via MIDI devices. Both type and control are accomplished via MIDI program changes and CC messages respectively.
