Recorded in the renowned Avatar Studios and featuring several vintage and custom kits, this session is best described as a prequel to the much praised core library in Toontrack's award-winning Superior Drummer, also recorded in Avatar studios and by the same team, engineer duo Neil Dorfsman and Pat Thrall together with drummer Nir Z. Avatar Studios is known for having one of the world's finest acoustic environments for recording and has won several industry awards. Since its inception in the 1970s, it's hosted bands and artists like Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Journey, Kings of Leon and The Clash. ZVex Vextron Mastotron fuzz One of two new budget minded pedals unveiled during the 2009 NAMM show, the new ZVex Vextron Mastotron is here and the fuzz world may never be the same. Equally capable of providing fuzzy goodness for guitar, bass, keyboards or even digital recorders, this bad boy can be enjoyed by the whole family. The new ZVex Vextron Distortion features simpler graphics than you have come to expect, but the sounds are pure fuzz heaven. The ZVex Vextron Mastotron fuzz is based on a heavy silicon fuzz design using a 2N2222 transistor ala Jimi Hendrix. Zachary Vex says it has a bumble bee quality that stays solid for all settings. Knobs on the fuzzy little fellow are Volume, Tone, Pulse Width, Fuzz and Relax/Push. The Pulse Width knob allows you to change the wave form from square wave to narrow pulse waves and everything in between. The Relax/Push knob adds source impedance to the signal that enters the pedal. This allows the ZVex Vextron Mastotron to soften the input being sent by active pickups to maximize the fuzz effect and to adjust how the pedal reacts to how you play. There is also a Subs Switch that lets you dictate how much sub content is added to the signal. If you have been searching for a fuzz that allows the complete control over wave shape, sustain, attack, decay and texture of the fuzz, the ZVex Vextron Mastotron might be the ticket.
